Das 1982 von Georg Graewe in Bochum gegründete GrubenKlangOrchester prägte ein Jahrzehnt lang den innovativen Sound des Ruhrgebiets. Heimische und internationale Musiker, viele der wichtigsten Solisten der aktuellen Musik fanden sich in diesem Ensemble vereint. Internationale Gastspiele, Hörfunk- und Tonträgerproduktionen trugenden Klang des Reviers in die Welt. Heute werden die kreativen, musikalischen Fäden und Haltungen als Brückenschläge zwischen Vergangenheit und Zukunft neu reflektiert.
Die neue 13-köpfige Formation, die am 23. Mai beim Moers Festival ihre vielumjubelte Premiere hatte, wird nun bei weiteren Konzerten in Dortmund und Essen mit ihrem aktuellen Programm zu hören sein.

For a decade, the GrubenKlangOrchester shaped the innovative sound of the Ruhr. Founded in Bochum by Georg Graewe in 1982, the ensemble was made up of local and international musicians, including some of the major soloists in contemporary music. International guest performances as well as radio broadcasts and record productions helped spread the sound of the Ruhr out into the world. Today, the creative musical ideas and attitudes are being considered anew as bridges between the past and the future. The new 13-piece ensemble had its highly acclaimed premiere at this year's Moers Festival on May 23. and will present its current programme at further concerts in Dortmund and Essen.
